UDHAMPUR, MARCH 28: A sensitization cum awareness programme for PRIs and farmers was today conducted by Agriculture Department under the chairmanship of DDC Chairman, Udhampur Lal Chand here at CAO Complex, Udhampur.

At the onset, Chief Agriculture Officer, Udhampur Sanjay Anand briefed about the programme.

During the programme, the next financial year agriculture sector plan was also discussed with the DDC Chairman. The implementation, suggestions & feedback was also sought from the PRIs. It was informed that the department has introduced & implemented several schemes in the districts & achieved the desired targets under PM Kissan Samman Nidhi, SOIL Health Cards, PMFBY, PM Maandhan, KCC, etc.

Moreover, awareness regarding various new initiatives/schemes of the department was imparted to the farmers & PRIs. The notable progress achieved by the department during the current year was also shared with the participants.

After the programme, DDC Chairman, Lal Chand flagged off the exposure visit of 45 farmers of the district to KVK Reasi.

The DDC Chairman also inspected the stalls installed by the department and appreciated the new initiatives undertaken by it like promotion of Hydroponics technique, Pink Dhingri & Hanging blocks of Dhingri, terrace beds for roof top vegetable cultivation under urban farming concept- one of new initiatives taken by the department.

Later, Nursery seedlings of various hybrid vegetables raised at Kawa Farm were also distributed among the farmers.

On this occasion, women SHGs of various blocks and growers from different blocks participated & also put their products for sale under brand promotion.

The show inspired the farmers, women entrepreneurs & young entrepreneurs who want to seek new ventures & explore job opportunities in agro activities.
