Awareness programme on PMBJAP held at DH Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, NOVEMBER 24: Drugs and Food Organization, Jammu and Kashmir, in coordination with Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Kendra, today organised an awareness programme here in district Hospital Udhampur.
The awareness program was held under the supervision of the State Drug Controller/Nodal Officer for Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana, Lokita Khajuria.
The State Drug Controller informed that the prime objective of the awareness program was to provide access to affordable medicines to the poor & so that they do not lose their lives because of lack of medicines”. She emphasized that this flagship program should reach the common man so that they may be able to reap the benefits of the scheme. She reiterated that the Jan Aushadhi medicines of equitable quality, purity & strength in comparison to branded medicines shall be available at much lower rates to the general public.
The Doctors & Drug Control Officers pledged to facilitate the percolation of the benefits of the scheme to the masses to lessen their burden /expenditure on medicines.
Under the scheme, dedicated outlets known as Jan Aushadhi Kendras have been opened to provide generic medicines at affordable rates with quality & efficiency at par with branded medicine. It was impressed upon the Doctors to prescribe medicine available at Jan Aushadhi Kendra as it will benefit more marginalized and underprivileged families.
District Health Officers of Reasi & Udhampur also spoke on the occasion and informed that Jan Aushadhi outlets have been opened at 2 places in Udhampur District viz District Hospital and SDH Ramnagar and the process to open the outlets at SDH, Pancheri and CHC Chenani is on.
