Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing conducts extensive tour of District Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, MARCH 17: Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing J&K, Vishesh Paul Mahajan conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur district and listened to the issues of farmers.

He was accompanied by Area Marketing Officer Udhampur-Reasi Ashwani Kumar, Asstt. Director (G&P) Tehsin Chib and GMI Udhampur Kamal Kishor. He inspected the Cold Store at Champerhi and listened to the issues of local farmers and PRIs reagrding storage and marketing facility. He issued directions to Area Marketing Officer Udhampur to submit a proposal in this regard.

He further inspected the Kissan Mandi site at Narsoo (Udhampur) where progressive farmers and PRIs led by Makhna Devi, Sarpanch requested to develop the mandi site by raising it to the level of National Highway so that local and adjoining farmers could draw maximum benefit from the project.

Recognizing the interest and need of the farmers/ PRIs and, he agreed to utilize the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund for the purpose with the suggestion of Sarpanch Narsoo.

He further encouraged the farmers to get organised as a group/ cooperative so that the Cold store Champerhi and farmer market Narsoo become a vibrant marketing point.

The Director also interacted with the members of “The Shyam Kallarhi Cooperative Society” (Rgd.) Narsoo and gave the members marketing tips to promote their products globally.

Rajesh Gupta, Chairman of “Mahadev Patnitop Fruit & Vegetable Cooperative Marketing Society” (Rgd.), Satish Kumar, Grower, Ashok Kumar Ex-Sarpanch, Jeet Kumar Kerni and others were also present on the occasion.
