  • Vision: To promote the balanced growth of Industry & Commerce in Jammu & Kashmir through sustainable utilization of natural resources and development of human skills .
  • Mission:
  1. To create an enabling and entrepreneurial friendly environment in all regions of the State which will facilitate the sustainable growth and development of Industrial enterprises including Cottage and Village industries.
  2. To encourage new investment in industries and facilitate new entrepreneurs.
  • Main Objectives:
  1. To promote growth of manufacturing industry by facilitating financial, infrastructural and policy support.
  2. To facilitate investment and to coordinate faster implementation of investment approvals.
  3. To initiate measures towards procedural changes to make functioning of the Department more transparent and responsive.
  4. To create a sound information base of macroeconomic indicators of industrial production and prices
  • Identification and Development of Land Bank for establishing ‘New’ Industries in District Udhampur: To attract investments, the Department of Industries and Commerce has initiated action for creation of New Industrial Estates, Clusters etc. in the district. The Department of Revenue vide its order no. 19-JK (REV) of 2020 dated 14.02.2020 and 79-JK (REV) of 2020 dated 24.07.2020 has handed over a total of 21 sites (~8527 Kanals) of State Land to Industries and Commerce Department in District Udhampur. DIC Udhampur has taken over the sites to Engineering teams of SIDCO and SICOP. Majorly, sites in Village Mand and Sien Thakran falling under Tehsil Udhampur stand transferred to SIDCO and sites under Tehsil Ramnagar, Tehsil Majalta and Tehsil Chenani stand transferred to SICOP.
  • Promoting SSI Units and attracting new investments/industrial Units under J&K Industrial Policy 2021 and IDS 2021 thereby creating employment opportunities for the unemployed youth in the district

Interventions like technological conferences at All India Level are regularly facilitated by the Department for entrepreneurs to introduce innovation in process cycles of products in their respective industries/start-ups.

Total Industrial Units registered with DIC Udhampur are 862 (both in the Organized and Unorganized sector). With these units, total employment generated so far stands at 3348.
