GCW Udhampur organises heritage field visit to Krimachi Temples

UDHAMPUR, FEBRUARY -26:– The Heritage Club of Government College for Women Udhampur in coordination with the Department of History, today organised a Heritage Field Visit to Krimachi Group of Temples with the theme “Complex Pasts, Diverse Future”.

To explore the hidden treasure of Udhampur, Principal of the College Prof. Minu Mahajan, the chief patron of heritage club, flagged off the field visitors.

In her address, the Principal of the college extended warm welcome to all the participants, beside she lauded the efforts of the heritage club for organising such an event that ‘uphold our cultural identity, heritage, art, architecture, knowledge, beliefs, expressions and landscape.’

She also appealed to the participants to voluntarily contribute in the preservation and conservation of our local cultural heritage.

Around 70 students and ten staff members participated in the field trip. The participants were holding flex banners portraying the pictures of monuments and slogans written on posters, banners and placards like heritage reflects our culture, we are proud of Indian culture, conserve your cultural diversity, preserve it for future identities. The participants marched in the form of procession from the premises of college towards the destination raising the slogans like “hum sab ne ye thana Hai, sabko jagruk banana Hai”, “hum sabka abhimaan Hai Taj, Bharat ki pehchan Hai Taj”, “conserve your cultural diversity, preserve it for future identities”.

The other members of the club who were directly involved in the smooth conduct of this event were Sumit Sharma (A.P. English), Meena Gupta (A.P. English), Rajinder Singh (HOD Punjabi) and Mushtaq Ahmed (A.P. Hindi).

The programme culminated with the field visit of Krimachi group of temples where Prof. Yash Paul briefed the students about history, art, architecture, and designing of these temples and the role played by the complex in the economic growth of Duggar.

Meanwhile, the Red Ribbon Club of Government College for Women (GCW ) Udhampur under the convenorship of Dr, Kewal Kumar conducted an inter Collegiate online Quiz Competition on the topic “Public threats like HIV/AIDS, COVID-19 and Drug-de addiction” in collaboration with J&K AIDS Control Society here today

Principal of the host College, Prof. Minu Mahajan was the chief guest on the occasion.

As many as 85 students from various colleges of J&K UT participated in the quiz.

A significant number of students from other colleges like GDC Billawar, GDC Bhaderwah, GDC Samba and GDC, Kathua showed their active participation.
