Vision 

We aim to strengthen an enabling environment to enhance contribution of Horticulture in GDP, making the growers of J&K market leader in high quality produce through efficient and profitable processes which will deliver value to our expertise, increasing returns to growers and enhance employment.

Mission

  • Introduction of latest technologies to increase quality, production and productivity of fruit crops.
  • To promote diversification to ensure better returns.
  • To bring in uncultivable land under Horticulture cultivation.

 

Various Schemes of the Department :

  1. Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH):
  • Production of Planting Material/Plantation infrastructure.
  • Area Expansion (Normal Spacing/High Density Plantation).
  • Rejuvenation of Old and Senile orchards.
  • Creation of Water Sources.
  • Protected cultivation.
  • Promotion of IPM/INM.
  • Organic farming.
  • Horticulture Mechanization.
  • Human Resource Development (HRD).
  • Post-Harvest Management.
  1. Prime Minister Development Package (PMDP):-
  • Protected Cultivation.
  • Horticulture Mechanization.
  • Creation of Water Sources.
  • Post Harvest Management.

 

iii. CAPEX Budget:-

  • Maintenance of Departmental nurseries /orchards.
  • Nursery Registration and supply of scion/bud wood to the nurseries.
  • To provide material cost to meet convergence under MGNREGA.
  • Chemicals and equipments for Canning centers.
  • Training courses in art of fruit and vegetable preservations.
  • Mobile demonstrations for in the art of fruit and vegetable preservations
  • Tools/Spares/machinery for modern technical support.
  • Upto 50% Subsidy/Incentive for small and marginal farmers for area expansion (Normal Spacing & High Density Plantation) programme including PP Chemicals etc.
  • Up gradation/development of Departmental Infrastructure/Assets.
  • Establishment of Demonstration plots of strawberry/grapes/kiwi etc.
  • Support to Soil Testing Laboratory.
  • Support to nut fruit cultivation.
  1. Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM):

The main emphasis of this scheme on Agricultural Mechanization:

  • Procurement of Agricultural Machinery & Equipments.
  • Manual/Inter-cultivation Equipments.
  • Self/Other Power Driven Horticultural Machinery.
  • Establishment of Farm Machinery Banks for Custom Hiring.

 

  1. Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (Per Drop More

     Crop) (PMKSY):

  • Improved/Innovative distribution system like Water Carrying pipes/pipe/pre cast distribution system.
  • Water Lifting Devices i.e Pump sets/Diesel Electronic Pump sets.
  • Construction of Micro Irrigation Structure like Pond/Shallow well/Medium Bore-Well/Water Harvesting Tank/Desiltation & Deepening of Ponds etc.
  • Drip Irrigation System/Training of Stake Holders.
  1. Sub-Mission on Agricultural Extension (SMAE) ATMA:
  • Training of Farmers.
  • Establishment of D-Plot.
  • Farm Information Dissemination.
