Week long training in Mushroom cultivation commences at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, DECEMBER-07:- A week long training session for the group -1 comprising 30 e-registered farmers in Mushroom cultivation begun here today at DCTC Mushroom complex Udhampur.

This training session has been organised on the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Indu Kanwal Chib who has taken initiative for promoting the startup programme for unemployed youths in Agriculture and allied sectors so that forward and backward linkage could be taken to the logical conclusion.

In his inaugural address, Chief Agriculture Officer, Sanjay Anand, thanked the Deputy Commissioner for the initiative towards prosperity and welfare of the unemployed youth. He informed that during the month-long training the participants will be imparted training in mushroom growing, apiculture, organic cultivation, hydroponics, vertical farming, farm machinery, etc.

Around 400 unemployed youths will be covered and roped with the financial institutions to establish their units to become agri-entrepreneurs. He reiterated that agriculture is the only sector which can check the rising unemployment in the district.

Mushroom cultivation being a highly lucrative cash crop can double the income of farmers within two months time realizing the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi i.e. doubling of farmers income by 2022.

On the occasion, Sanjay Koushal Scientist KVK Reasi, as the resource person, delivered a lecture on the scope of Mushroom Cultivation in accordance with the climate & temp.

District Agriculture Officer, Alok Pandotra, who also interacted with the new trainees, responded to their queries related to marketing and value addition.
